Dani and Tom, Enjoy, and I am looking forward to your wedding in September.

For me, Thanksgiving is a time of seeing friends who have moved away, and spending time with family. In my experience, most people have some kind of a tradition that revolves around Thanksgiving. For us, it’s more of a cross family tradition that started a few years ago.

After a day of eating to much, and spending time with family, my dad and I like to get a group of friends together and shoot birds. For us, its a time of multi-generational bonding. My Dad and myself release the pheasants early in the morning, and a few hours later our friends the Gooders arrive with Mr. Gooder, his son, and two grandsons. Its a chance to enjoy the outdoors, watch a beautiful dog work the field, and enjoy a dram of scotch, or a glass of wine after.

This is Rose. On the day we shot Krista and Sams’ engagement session Krista had to put down her dog of 15 years. So this is in memory of one of the greatest dogs ever. When we were younger, and Rose would go on vacation with us to Lake Erie, Rose would swim out and follow Krista around until Krista came back to shore. The truth is, I think Krista was Rosie’s puppy. She will be greatly missed.

Yesterday was a little bit different for us. Instead of going to La Chureca, we brought more than 60 kids from La Chureca to us, to spend some time playing soccer and doing crafts at a beautiful sports complex up in the Mountains. I’ll edit and post photos from that later, but last night when we got home I was just to physically exhausted to even try to stay up late. In fact, our whole group was in bed by 9:30 last night. Crazy!

Doug (the group leader), Kara (the translator) and myself will be here for another week working with a second group from Northway Oakland, and I cant wait to see what God has in store for us over the remainder of the trip. So far this has just been a taste, and I am so excited to get more of it. The exhausting days are nothing compared to the work that the people of La Chureca do every day.

I promise to post more pictures soon, most likely tonight, but I need to go get ready for an exploration of old world Nicaragua.
